Damieon, called ‘Wild Buck’, of Paramakatoi Village, Region Eight was stabbed to death yesterday at the Ithaki Backdam, Mazaruni River.
Police say that the victim and the suspect work together at a mining camp at the said backdam and around 20:30hrs, the two disagreed with the way the suspect was treating a female employee who is a cook at camp.
The disagreement resulted in a fight between Damieon and the 27-year-old suspect. The victim received a stab in his neck, which left a gaping wound as he fell and became motionless.
He was escorted to Bartica Regional Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who pronounced him dead on arrival.
The body was then placed in the Bartica Hospital mortuary where it awaits a post mortem examination.
The suspect was arrested and placed into custody as investigations continue.
