Two men were this morning remanded to prison for separate illegal possession of firearm and narcotics charges.
Patrick Green, 32, and Kyle Small made their appearance before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Green who was represented by attorney-at-law Adrian Thompson pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleges that on July 16, 2021, at a shack located at Louisa and Hardina streets, Georgetown, he had in his possession 348 grams of cannabis.
According to Thompson’s bail application, Greene was not in possession of the narcotics, and two others were arrested with him but he was the only person charged.
While Prosecutor Richard Harris told the court that Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) officers went to the shack where they saw the three men. He said that the officers asked them why they were gathered there and the men explained that Greene was selling marijuana to them.
Prosecutor Harris said that the officers found the narcotics in the vicinity of Greene, hence he was charged.
Magistrate Daly remanded him until August 23.
She then remanded Small after he denied that on July 16, 2021, at Stabroek Market, Georgetown, he had a Stern Ranger 40 Automatic pistol in his possession without being the holder of a firearm license enforced at the time. He also denied having five 40 ammunition.
This matter was prosecuted by Court Prosecutor Annalisa Brummell who said that the police conducted a search on Small and found the articles on him.
He was also told that his matter was adjourned until August 23.
