A 27-year-old Bella Dam, Pouderoyen West Bank Demerara (WBD) man last evening wrestled a gun away from his 19-year-old attacker at Old Road, La Grange, WBD.
Enquiries disclosed that the 27-year-old journeyed to La Grange to purchase a cellular phone from a named individual he met on Facebook. Upon arrival at the said location, he enquired about the individual and was directed to the suspect who was playing pools in a Chinese restaurant.
The suspect left the pools table and approached the victim, whipping out a handgun and holding the victim at gunpoint while ordering him to hand over all his money.
The suspect then pushed his hand in the victim’s pocket and relieved him of $10,000. A scuffle ensued and the suspect discharged a round at the victim, narrowly missing him.
The suspect managed to escape out onto the public road but was tackled by the victim, who then wrestled away the firearm and held on to him.
The victim was assisted by passersby to restrain the man. The police were subsequently summoned and took the suspect along with a .32 revolver and two live .32 ammunition into custody.
Investigations are ongoing.
Who was the attacker? Human or lower-class animal?
