Two taxi drivers who were intercepted with 73 pounds of cannabis were remanded for a possession of narcotics charge.
42-year-old Glen Gray and 38-year-old Kurt Gittens appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court today when Magistrate Fabayo Azore remanded them until August 13, 2021.
The two men are charged with possession of 73 pounds of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking committed on July 21 at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara. They denied the charge.
According to the police facts, on Wednesday, the two men were intercepted by Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) officers at 14:05hrs while on the Lusignan prison road.
They were arrested and taken to CANU Headquarters where further investigations were carried out.
