Police are investigating an accident that occurred yesterday around 19:00hrs at Airy Hall Public Road, Essequibo Coast, involving 30-year-old Mahindra Raj, 23-year-old Romesh Das, and Abdool Shamain, 22.
According to police, a motorcar driven by Mahindra Raj was proceeding south on the eastern driving lane when a motor-cycle ridden by Das and heading north on the western driving lane, swerved eastward, colliding with the car.
Das and his pillion rider Shamain were picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens and rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted soon.
The driver of the motorcar remains in custody, assisting with the investigation.
