Jaleel Leow, a 21-year-old mechanic of Dennis Street C/Ville, Georgetown, was gunned down yesterday afternoon around 17:50hrs at ‘B’ Field Sophia.
The suspects have been identified as ‘Big John’ or ‘Double Clip’ and the other known as ‘Brainer’. Both are still on the run.
Enquiries disclosed that Leow was ‘liming’ on the ‘B’ Field Sophia Access Road with Felicia Thom, a shopkeeper; Nigel Williams, a mechanic; Brandon Smith and two others when the two suspects approached them from a southern direction on two mountain bicycles.
One of the suspects, who was armed with two cutlasses, went up to Felicia and asked “Is problem you want?”. She responded in the negative and began walking into her yard.
The other suspect then pulled out a handgun from the waist of his pants and walked up to Leow, who was walking into the yard, and discharged two rounds which struct him to his right upper back. He subsequently fell to the ground before receiving two more rounds to the chest.
Leow got up and ran to the back of the yard where he collapsed.
The shooter then fired another shot at Brandon Smith who was standing by the roadside, which grazed him to his right upper hand.
The suspects mounted their bicycles and made good their escape.
Leow and Smith were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital by Thom. Leow was pronounced dead. His body is currently at the Georgetown Public Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination. Smith was treated and sent away.
