Two more persons, who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), have died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 556, the Health Ministry said today.
The latest fatalities are two females, a 55-year-old from Region 6 (East Berbice-Corentyne) and a 79-year-old from Region 4 (Demerara-Mahaica). They both died while receiving care at medical facilities.
Meanwhile, Guyana has recorded an additional 89 cases of the virus, taking infections from March 2020 to 22,932.
There are 18 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 698 in home isolation, five in institutional quarantine, and 90 in institutional isolation.
