Police are investigating a robbery that was committed on a 37-year-old Chinese businesswoman last night around 19:16hrs at Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
Enquiries disclosed that the businesswoman operates a supermarket at the said location, and last night she was behind the counter attending to customers when a man, who was armed with a silver handgun, walked into the supermarket, went up to the counter, pointed the firearm at her and demanded that she hand over her money.
She ran out from behind the counter further into the supermarket. The suspect chased the victim and collected a canister with $30,000 in cash and an undisclosed amount of GTT and Digicel phone cards.
Meanwhile, another suspect, who was outside, ran into the yard of the business place where he confronted a police constable who was sitting outside the supermarket and placed him to lie on the floor.
The suspects then made good their escape on foot.
The entire ordeal was captured on the CCTV cameras affixed on the Supermarket.
The area was searched for the two suspects but they were not located.
If the race of the suspects is disclosed, I guess that will be racism.
