Malisha Dutchin, 23, of Reliance Settlement, East Canje, Berbice, and Mario Bissoondyal, 32, a fisherman of Main Street Cumberland, East Canje, were today charged for the murder of 60-year-old, overseas-based Guyanese, Hemraj Paresi on August 3, 2021.
Both appeared at New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Renita Singh where the charge was read but they were not required to plea.
Bail was refused and the matter was transferred to Reliance Magistrate’s Court for September 9, 2021.
Pardesi was found dead in his home on August 3. He had returned to Guyana during the early part of July 2021 and was residing alone.
Police officers, who visited the crime scene, discovered Pardessi’s body lying face down with what appeared to be blood coming from his nose, and duct tape around his neck. Several traces of blood were seen on the step leading to the upper flat.
The upper flat of the house was also ransacked.
