Ryan Boodhoo, 19, of 113 Kuru Kururu, Linden/Soesdyke Highway, was killed around 21:30hrs last night in a hit and run accident.
Enquiries disclosed that the teen was walking along the eastern side of the said road proceeding south with three friends when they heard a vehicle approaching from behind.
One of the friends told police that he looked back and observed that the vehicle was approaching at a fast rate of speed which caused him to pull the person next to him to the left for safety.
However, Boodhoo, who was on the right side, was hit from behind by the said vehicle, which then drove away in a southern direction.
The pedestrian fell onto the road surface receiving injuries about the body. He was picked up in an unconscious condition by the police and public-spirited citizens, placed into a passing vehicle, and taken to the MacKenzie Public Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and pronounced dead on arrival.
