Ghanesh Sammy, 33, of Lot 83 Line Path A, Skeldon, Berbice, was charged yesterday for the alleged possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
The accused was arrested on August 3, 2021 after police found 38 grammes of methamphetamine (ecstasy) in a car trunk during a roadblock exercise at the Helena Public Road.
Sammy appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Miss M. Mittilholizer and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Bail was refused and he was remanded to prison. The case was adjourned to September 24, 2021 and transferred to the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court for report.
