Two men are nursing injuries they sustained from an accident that occurred last night around 20:37hrs on the Number 70 Public Road, Corentyne Berbice.
Police said that the accident involved motorcar # HC 9885 driven by Ulric Ramkishun, 38, of Queenstown, Corriverton Berbice, and passenger Methuselah John, a 23-year-old security guard of Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara.
Enquiries disclosed that the motorcar was proceeding north along the western drive lane at a fast rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a culvert and the ridge of two bridges on the eastern side of the road.
As a result, both driver and passenger received injuries about their bodies. They were taken out of the vehicle in a semi-conscious condition by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital.
They were examined and referred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
The passenger suffered a fractured left shoulder while the driver was further transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital for injuries to his left shoulder, left foot, and spine. The driver’s condition is regarded as serious but stable, while the passenger’s condition is regarded as stable.
Investigations are ongoing.
