The body of Kevin DeAbreu, 24, a farmer of Wiruni Village, was fished out of the Berbice River yesterday morning.
DeAbreu was last seen imbibing with some friends at a shop on September 12, about 18:00hrs. He subsequently left in a boat the same day. Two days later, his body was found floating.
Deputy Toshao, Randy Osbourne was immediately informed and he subsequently called the Kwakwani Police Station to report the matter.
The body was examined and it was discovered that the face was mutilated. There was also a wound in the region of the neck.
DeAbreu’s body was escorted to the Kwakwani Hospital, where it was pronounced dead on arrival at 02:35hrs on September 15. It was escorted to the mortuary for storage. A post-mortem examination is expected shortly.
Investigations are ongoing.
