Police in West Demerara are investigating the circumstances surrounding an accident this morning at Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara (WBD) involving motorcar PPP 3788 owned and driven by Stephen Fraser, 27, of 197 Westminster Parafaite Harmonie, WBD, and motorcar PYY 6390 driven by Anthony Slater, a 61-year-old of Lot 114, 4th Street South Better Hope, East Coast Demerara.
Enquiries disclosed that motorcar PPP 3788 was proceeding south along the eastern side of Pouderoyen Public Road and motorcar PYY 6360, which was on the western side of the road, made a U-turn into the path of PPP 3788 causing the said motorcar to collide with the left side rear door of the other car.
Passengers Alecia Munroe, 35, of Middle Street Pouderoyen, and 57-year-old Naresh Persaud of Recht Door Zee, WBD, who were sitting at the said rear seat when the collision occurred, received injuries about their bodies.
They were taken to West Demerara Regional Hospital where Alicia Munroe was admitted for observation in a stable condition while Naresh Persaud was treated and sent away.
Both drivers were tested for alcohol and they had 108 % BAC and 108% BAC, 106% BAC, and 118% BAC respectively in their systems.
Notice of intended prosecution was served on both drivers, who remain in custody as further enquiries are in progress.
