Anil Samsudeen, 33, of Parika Outfall, Sea Dam, East Bank Essequibo, is now a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after he was stabbed by his neighbour last night around 23:00hrs.
The 28-year-old male suspect is yet to be apprehended.
Enquiries disclosed that the suspect went home intoxicated and told his 61-year-old mother that he wants his food and she told him to serve himself.
He became annoyed and threw the pot with the food to the ground and started to abuse her verbally.
Samsudeen, who lives next door, heard the commotion and went over to caution the suspect to desist from doing same but he continued.
The suspect then asked Samsudeen if he wants to do something about it and he (Samsudeen) replied “if you want do something come do it”.
The suspect, who was armed with a black knife, walked up to the victim and dealt him one stab to the abdomen and made good his escape.
As a result, Samsudeen was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was examined and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further observation in a critical condition.
Checks were made for the suspect but he was not contacted. The area was checked and the weapon used was recovered by the police.
Further investigations are underway.
