Dennis Harold Dey, 71, of Lot 207 Wisroc Housing Scheme, Linden, was found dead in his home on Thursday around 11:30hrs, police say.
Enquiries disclosed that Dey lived alone and it is alleged that he suffered from hypertension, prostate cancer and was in the habit of smoking.
On Thursday morning, another tenant complained about the stench emanating from the deceased’s apartment and later sent her 13-year-old son to make checks. The child discovered the body lying motionless on the ground in the apartment.
The police were summoned and upon examining the body, they saw no marks of violence. The body was later escorted to the McKenzie Hospital Complex. A doctor pronounced Dey dead on arrival.
The body was later transported to the Pensioners’ Funeral Parlour. A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted soon.
Investigations are ongoing.
