The body of 65-year-old, Mahadeo (only name given) was found in a drain at Parika Backdam, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) yesterday.
Police said that an unknown caller reported the discovery around 14:00hrs, and the area was subsequently visited by a party of policemen. The partly decomposed body was removed from the drain with the assistance of residents.
No marks of violence were seen on the body.
The body was later identified to be Mahadeo by his cousin, a 51-year-old man also of the said area. The man told the police that his cousin was last seen on Thursday, October 7, 2021, in a drunken state, walking down Parika Backdam Access Road.
The body is at the Ezekiel Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
