Motorcyclist, Romeo Edghill, 17, a construction worker of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) died yesterday while he was being rushed to the hospital after being struck down by an unidentified vehicle at the Ogle Railway Embankment, ECD.
Enquiries disclosed that motorcycle, CH 6584, driven by Edghill, was proceeding east along the northern side of the road and was in the process of overtaking a white unknown motorcar when the vehicle suddenly made a right turn.

As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist – who was not wearing a helmet – received injuries to his head and other parts of his body.
The unknown car then fled the accident scene.
The motorcyclist was picked up in a conscious state with help from public-spirited citizens, and placed in an ambulance which took him to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. He was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who pronounced him dead on arrival.
The body is presently lying at the Georgetown Public Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Further checks are in progress for the said unknown motorcar as investigations continue.
