The Ministry of Health (MOH) has informed that one more person who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 926.
The surveillance unit has now carried out data reconciliation and hence this death is now being reported.
The latest fatality is an 84-year-old, Region 10 woman. She passed away on August 26, 2021. She was unvaccinated, the Ministry noted.
Guyana has also recorded an additional 62 cases of the virus, taking the number of confirmed infections since March 2020 to 35,719.
According to the Ministry, 14 persons are hospitalised in the intensive care unit, with 2,499 in home isolation.
Some 32, 218 persons have since recovered from the virus.
