Commissioner of Police (acting), Nigel Hoppie told reporters that documents housed at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) were saved as fire gutted several areas of the Police Force’s Headquarters, Eve Leary including the barracks, the offices of the DPP and Professional Responsibility (OPR) this morning.
The OPR probes allegations made against members of the force. Asked if investigations into ranks would be affected by the loss of documents, the Top Cop said that “contingencies” are in place. He said that because of the decentralised nature of the OPR, documents are also at other regional facilities.
There is something nasty afoot when there are so many government buildings being destroyed by fire since the legitimate government took office.
It seems like one party is trying to make Guyana “ungovernable.” These fires should be thoroughly investigated, even if it means asking for help from overseas.
