A team of Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) officers yesterday conducted a narcotic operation at Victoria Backdam, East Coast Demerara.
The ranks discovered a camp located on a one-acre land, consisting of a quantity of male and female clothing. Officers found a total of 5000 cannabis plants ranging from three to five feet in height, along with fifteen,100-pound salt bags containing processed cannabis, equivalent to 500 Kilogrammes (KG).
No one was seen, nor arrested during the operation.
The said plants along with the bags of cannabis were eradicated.
The street value of the 500KG of cannabis is GYD 70,000,000.
Investigations are ongoing.
