Two men are in custody assisting police with determining what led to the disappearance of Shaheed Alli, 29, a construction worker of ‘B ‘Field Sophia, Georgetown yesterday.
One of the men is related to Alli. He told cops that he along with Alli and another man were consuming wine and energy drinks when they decided to take a swim in the Hope Canal around 15:00hrs.
He further told investigators that they all jumped into the canal but only Alli failed to resurface.
Checks were made for him in the water but same proved futile.
