Three persons were today charged in connection with the issuance of fake COVID-19 vaccination books.
Andel Valentine, 32, a screening worker of Lot 2136 La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, 29-year-old nurse, Teneka Pollard of Lot 109 Golden Grove East Bank Demerara, and Olivia Bonus, 21, also a nurse, appeared at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charge of Forgery of Document with Intent to Defraud the Public Contrary to Section 278 of the Criminal Law Offence Act Chapter 8:01.
The accused appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman. They were not required to plea and were placed on $150,000 bail each. The matter was adjourned until Thursday, January 20, 2022.
They were arrested on Friday, December 3, 2021, by a party of police officers for the alleged crime, which occurred between Monday, March 1, 2021, and Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at various vaccination centers on the East Bank of Demerara.
