The Ministry of Health has informed that as of December 28, 2021, one more person who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 1051.
The latest fatality is a 65-year-old, fully vaccinated woman from Region One (Barima/Waini).
Guyana has also recorded 87 new cases of the virus, taking confirmed infections since March 2020 to 39,238.
There are six patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 604 in home isolation, six institutionally quarantined and 33 in institutional isolation.
So far, 37,544 persons have recovered.
