The Ministry of Health has informed that one more person who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 1056.
The latest fatality is an unvaccinated 69-year-old, Region 10 woman. She passed away on January 1, 2022. Guyana has also recorded 94 new cases of the virus, taking confirmed infections since March 2020 to 40,154.
Six patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 47 in institutional isolation, seven in institutional quarantine and 1,281 in home isolation.
Some 37,764 persons have recovered to date.
