The police have arrested a male pensioner and are making efforts to contact a prominent Senior Counsel based in Berbice following investigations into a report alleging that they are involved in an attempt to obstruct the course of justice.
Investigations so far have revealed that a woman, who is a witness in a matter of murder that is before the court, told police that the pensioner and the Senior Counsel had approached about accepting a bribe. It is alleged that both parties indicated that the relatives of the murder accused are offering a large sum of money for her to change her statement in the matter.
