Two more persons who tested positive for COVID-19 have died, taking the number of deaths since March 2020 to 1,066.
The latest fatalities are two unvaccinated persons: a 60-year-old, Region Three woman; and a 66-year-old man from Region Seven. They both died on January 6, 2022.
Guyana also recorded 844 new cases, taking confirmed infections since virus reached in March 2020 to 43,229 from 441,438 tests.
There are five persons in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 91 in institutional isolation, 4,178 in home isolation, and 12 in institutional quarantine.
Some 37,895 persons have since recovered.
