Twenty-eight-year-old Steve Ashby of Canal Bank, Port Kaituma, North West District (NWD) died in a vehicular accident on January 9, 2022 at Noseno Backdam, NWD around 18:40hrs.
So far, enquiries have disclosed that Steve Ashby, 28, was a pillion rider on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) that was driven by a Brazilian National, called “Ahoo”, age and address unknown. Cops said that the driver was proceeding south along the Noseno Backdam Main Access Road, when he allegedly lost control of the ATV, hitting the western baranka and turned turtle, causing the pillion rider to be pinned down. The driver reportedly fled the scene.
Ashby was picked up and escorted to the Port Kaituma District Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor who pronounced him dead on arrival. The body is presently lying in the said hospital’s mortuary awaiting a Post-mortem Examination.
