Two more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 1,075. The latest fatalities are two women: a fully vaccinated, 80-year-old Region Six resident who died yesterday, and a 57-year-old, unvaccinated Region Five resident, who succumbed two days ago.
Guyana also recorded 1,000 new cases, taking infections since March 2020 to a staggering 47,005 from 456,353 tests. There are 13 persons in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 109 in institutional isolation, 7,462 in home isolation, and nine in institutional quarantine.
Some 38,346 persons have recovered since virus confirmation in mid-March 2020.
