Opposition Parliamentarian and “In the Ring” talk show host, Sherod Duncan was released this afternoon on $100,000 bail and is expected to attend court on Monday.
Duncan was arrested before noon today, after he was accused of using derogatory words to describe Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM)’s Information Technology Manager, Aneal Giddings. According to police, Duncan called Giddings a “jagabat” and a “trench crappo” during a recent airing of his show.
Duncan has since received support from his colleague Members of Parliament, labelling his arrest as a deprivation of freedom of expression.
