Backed by oil proceeds, Budget 2022 totaled $552.9B. This was announced today by Senior Minister with responsibility for Finance, Dr. Ashni Kumar Singh. The official noted that budget 2022 is 44.3 percent larger than Budget 2021 and 36.6 percent above total expenditure last year. He said it is therefore the largest budget ever and is fully financed with no new taxes.
Guyana Standard previously reported that budget 2021 totalled $383 billion. The size of the Budget 2020 was $329.5 billion which is 9.6% or $28.8 billion above that of 2019.
The theme for budget 2022 is, “Steadfast against all challenges, resolute in building our one Guyana.”
