The Ministry of Health (MOH) has informed the media that as of January 30, 2022, two more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 1,168.
The latest fatalities are two men: a fully vaccinated, 79-year-old from Region Four; and an 86-year-old from Region Three, whose vaccination status was listed as “unknown”.
Guyana has also recorded 86 new cases, taking confirmed infections since March 2020 to 59,889 from 507,444 tests. There are 11 persons in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 200 in institutional isolation, 10,898 in home isolation, and 19 in institutional quarantine.
