Thirty-five-year-old Jethro Jones of lot 33 First Street Paradise, East Coast Demerara, was today charged with the offence of Possession of Firearm Without Licence when he appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court.
The accused was arrested after a search on his person was carried out by Joint Services ranks who were conducting Covid-19 enforcement activities at a bar in Melanie, East Coast Demerara on Sunday February 06, 2022 shortly after midnight. The accused had one .32 Taurus pistol concealed in the waist of his pants and could not produce a licence for same, which led to his arrest and subsequent charge.
In court today, Jones pleaded not guilty and was placed on $150,000 bail. The matter has been put down for May 30, 2022 for hearing.
