Two persons were placed before the courts today to for attempting to murder a man at the Kitty seawall, Georgetown.
Terrence Park, 44, and Michala Matthias, a 28-year-old mother of five, both residing at the Selena Resort, Kitty Seawall, were hauled before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The pair was jointly charged with the attempted murder of Kevin Sutton on September 2 at the Kitty Public Road, Georgetown. Park and Matthias who both self employed as food and beverage vendors were not required to plead to the charge.
According to the police, the two defendants and the victim were involved in an argument, after which a scuffle ensued at their place of abode. Park allegedly armed himself with a wood and a cutlass. Matthias then armed herself with a knife. It is alleged that the duo dealt the man several stabs about his head and body.
This resulted in the man being hospitalized and the pair was subsequently charged with wounding the man. However the matter was dismissed in November 2021, but according to the police, the man was in and out of the hospital for related injuries.
The court heard that he suffered lacerations that were considered serious. In fact, the man is currently in a critical condition at the hospital after he was re-admitted on Friday last. The court heard that Sutton has been suffering from seizures. It is for this reason that the charge of attempted murder was instituted by the police.
The prosecutor objected to bail due to the circumstances listed and the pair was remanded until February 28.
