As Guyana prepares to host its third International Energy Conference and Expo 2022, placing Guyanese once again at centre stage, it is to note that the organizers and the Government of Guyana have entirely excluded the APNU+AFC elected
Parliamentary Opposition and the APNU+AFC local and regional officials from partaking in this conference via formal invitations.
Guyana belongs to all Guyanese and the APNU+AFC represents Guyanese in the National Assembly.
One would have considered that the initiative put forward by H.E. Dr. Irfaan Ali for a ‘One Guyana’ would have been a selling point at such a conference which would have displayed Guyana internationally, but this current posture of deliberately excluding these elected officials only seeks to provoke aggression in an already toxified political atmosphere.
The hope that government and the opposition would come together on a common ground for the prosperity of the nation has been shattered infront of the diplomatic community and now also the major stakeholders in our energy sector which speaks heavily to investor confidence in the present state of affairs.
Despite the urgent calls by the opposition for government to be more people centered, the government has once again lost an opportunity to prove the true meaning of ‘One Guyana’.
It must also be noted that the successes being realised today are due to the firm foundation laid down by the APNU+AFC Government and this makes the exclusion even more abominable.
