Thirty-nine-year-old Veroy Isaacs was today charged with the rape of a 10-year-old girl.
Isaacs was remanded until March 14, by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennon when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
He was not required to plead to the charge which alleges that between January 2020 and December 2020, at Kamara, Kamarang river, Upper Mazaruni, he engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16.
According to the facts, the man and the child are known to each other. It was reported that the man took the child to a creek in the area where they were going to catch fish. It was reported that he then raped the child before returning home. The girl told her mother what happened to her and her mother confronted Isaacs who was then arrested by the police. He reportedly admitted to the crime.
