Yesterday afternoon, A Partnership for National Unity + Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) Members of Parliament (MP) Catherine Hughes and Nima Flue Best, submitted on behalf of the female MPs on the opposition’s side of the House, a motion calling for Government Minister, Nigel Dharamlall to be reprimanded.
Dharamlall, the Local Government and Regional Development Minister, during the examination and consideration of budget 2022 estimates, earlier this month, hurled a derogatory remark towards an opposition MP. He said “You got to get a dildo, that’s why you looking for”.
The outburst led to protestation from opposition MP, Sherod Duncan, who was subsequently suspended for four sittings after he refused to obey the Speaker, Manzoor Nadir, to take his seat.
The minister has since apologised. He said that the remark was directed towards a male MP, but APNU+AFC MPs contend that Dharamlall was speaking to a female parliamentarian.
If the creature needed a dildo, then what is the problem?
