Police in Regional Division 7 are reporting the alleged murder of 62-year-old, Brazilian Edmilson Dosantos called ‘Damicio’, a miner/hotel proprietor, which occurred between 20:00hrs on February 22 and 11:00hrs on the 23rd, at Eteringbang Landing, Cuyuni River.
Based on investigations so far, police say that the man was at the time, the only occupant of his hotel, which consists of 12 rooms. A vendor police recalled that on February 22 he went to Edmilson to rent a room at his establishment, but was told by him (Edmilson) to return the following morning.
The vendor indicated that he returned about 11:00 hrs the next day and called out to Edmilson but after receiving no answer. He pushed open his room and discovered the man dead on his bed.
When police arrived at the scene, the body was found lying face down, and his feet bound with white scotch tape and around his neck, while his hands were tied to the front with a hammock. A mattock was found stuck into the middle of his skull and his forehead appeared to be bludgeoned.
Investigations are ongoing.
