Police in Regional Division #4B reported this evening that a second road fatality occurred in its area about 15:10hrs on Yarrrowkabra Public Road, Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
The accident involved motor lorry GXX2366, driven by Jerome Daniel Paddy, 48, of One Mile, Wismar, Linden and motor lorry GYY6745, driven by Robert Hilbert, 47, of Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD), with occupants Yannick Pratt and Jomo Benjamin (deceased), whose age and address are presently unknown.
Enquiries disclosed that motor lorry GXX 2366 was proceeding north along the western side of the said road at a fast rate of speed and overtaking a line of traffic where the left side front collided with the right side of motor lorry GYY 6745, which was proceeding north along the western side of the said road and turning east into Yarrowkabra Pump Road.
As a result of the collision, the porter fell out of the vehicle and was ran over by motor lorry GXX 2366.
He was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty and the body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Parlour for storage.
