Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal said more than 22,000 residents will benefit from the Lusignan water well that was commissioned today.
The new well has a life expectancy of 30 years, and will provide each household with an amount of water that falls within the internationally acceptable standard.
The minister encouraged residents to join hands and take care of the well. He also called upon residents to use water responsibly and to report leaks as soon as they occur.
He also encouraged persons to not tamper with water meters or make illegal connections.
He said that the commissioning of the well demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving not only the lives of citizens but also the quality and sustainability of the potable water services to the populace.
He congratulated the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI), Sheik Baksh and his team for bringing the project to fruition.
