Customs Enforcement Officer, David Ali, 49, was today charged with two counts of Discharging Loaded Firearm with intent: Contrary to Section 55 (a) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act Chapter 08:01.
Ali, of Lot 31 Kersaint Park, La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara was arrested on March 13th, 2022 by ranks of the Beterverwagting Police Station with two discharging a loaded firearm with intent committed on Anil Persaud and Reygon Gonzales, respectively, which occurred the same day at Kersaint Park, LBI.
Ali appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate Court today before Her Worship Miss. R. Liverpool where the charges were read to him and he pleaded not guilty to both.
Bail was granted in the sum of $100,000 on each charge. The case was postponed to March 20, 2022 for statements.
A police report stated that the two men were in a yard next to Ali’s home cutting grass for their horses, when Ali allegedly opened fire.
