Police say they have caught another man who is suspected of chopping to death 24-year-old Alex Williams, a construction worker of Number 2 Village, East Canje Berbice six days ago.
Acting on information received, police in Regional Division Six went to a house at Number 65 Village, Corentyne, Berbice on March 16, 2022, about 21:50hrs and arrested 24-year-old Jelon Benny called “Blackboy”, who was listed as wanted by the police.
He is presently in custody at the No. 51 Police Station.
A 22-year-old man was recently charged with the murder. He has been identified as Imran Khan, also known as ‘Drums’.
According to a Stabroek News article published yesterday, Imran Khan, also known as “Drums”, of Fort Ordnance, East Canje Berbice, appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh on Thursday last at the Reliance Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him. He was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison. He will return to court on April 5 for report.
