As she was being interviewed by police regarding her abduction, an 18-year-old girl confessed that it was all a lie. She also told them that she suffers from depression.

The young woman, whose identity the police has not revealed, initially told cops that she was abducted at Jimbo Bridge, Grove, East Bank Demerara about 13:00hrs on March 21, 2022 by persons unknown.

However, in actuality, she contacted a friend seeking a place to stay for a few days “to cool her head”.

The friend agreed and met the teen on Main Street in Georgetown to give her the keys to her apartment where she proceeded.

The 18-year-old further told investigators that she spent the next few days inflicting injuries to herself. She even cut off her hair and used a metal comb to self inflict burns about her body.

The following day, about 16:45hrs, she left her friend’s house, boarded a taxi and proceeded to the Kitty seawall.

She further stated that while on the seawall, she saw a “sister” from the church who called her parents and took her over to Brickdam Police Station where she reported that she was kidnapped.

This is the third such report that investigators have been dealing with in the last three days.

Recently, detectives found 28-year-old Rohan Kirpaul Mangra hiding in a Hadfield Street, Georgetown hotel, days after it was alleged that he had been kidnapped.

Mangra was relaxing inside a room at the hotel with another man when ranks visited to question staffers. His relatives had alleged that he went missing on March 15, last after leaving his Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara home to hang out with his friends.
