About 20:00hrs on Thursday, Police in Regional Division 4 ‘C’ conducted an intelligence-led operation at Enterprise Gardens East Coast Demerara (ECD) which unearthed over 13 pounds of cannabis.
Cops first contacted a 35-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man, who were seated in a vehicle, PRR 2824, parked on the roadway.
A search was conducted on the occupants and the motor car and four bulky transparent wrapped parcels containing cannabis leaves, seeds and stems were found. Both suspects were told of the offence committed, cautioned, arrested and escorted to the Cove and John Police Station.
A further search was also conducted at one of the suspect’s homes at Enterprise Gardens East Coast Demerara and one black bag containing a quantity of cannabis leaves, seeds and stems suspected was unearthed in a bedroom.
The drugs was taken to the Cove and John Police Station where it was weighed and amounted to 5,015 and 1,000 grams respectively, both totalling 6,015 grams.
Both suspects are currently in custody as investigations are ongoing.
