Commander of Police Regional Division Nine, Raphael Rose has confirmed the occurrence of a fatal accident at Massara Access Road in the North Rupununi, yesterday around 20:00hrs.
The incident involved a motorcycle (owner’s name and address unknown) which was driven by Valdimer Bezzera, a 44-year-old self-employed Amerindian of Massara village.
Enquiries disclosed that the motorcycle was proceeding in a northern direction on the Massara access road at a fast rate of speed and whilst in the process of negotiating a left turn, the driver lost control of the motorcycle and fell onto the road. He received injuries about his body as a result and was later discovered in a motionless state by a public spirited citizen who was traversing the area at the time. He was subsequently picked up and taken to the Massara Health Center, where he was seen and examined by a medic.
Bezzera was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body is presently lying at the Massara Health Center and will be escorted to the Lethem Regional Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
