Commissioner of Police (acting), Clifton Hicken says the Guyana Police Force (GPF) is pushing for the resuscitation of Scout Groups in all regions of Guyana.
The acting Commissioner has already met with the Chief Commissioner of the Scout Association of Guyana, Andrew Ramcharritar, and Assistant Scout Coordinator Sergeant Argile.
The Top Cop said every effort must be made to revamp existing scout groups and establish new police scout groups in all twelve of the Regional Police Divisions across Guyana.
Hicken noted that the skill sets learnt through the Scouts Association will benefit youths in making them more marketable and aid them in gaining positive employment.
The anticipated revamped Police Scout groups will attract and enable youths (both males and females) from all communities to acquire knowledge and the skills needed to develop themselves into good citizens while effectively addressing the challenges that currently exist in their respective communities.
Hicken urged Ramcharitar and Sergeant Argile to ensure that weekly activities are conducted by scout groups in a quest to better develop themselves along with their talents.
