People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) Leader, Aubrey Norton and former party Chairwoman, Volda Lawrence were on Wednesday sworn in as Members of Parliament (MP).
Norton and Lawrence replace the former Opposition Leader, Joseph Harmon and resigned MP and former Education Minister, Nicolette Henry.
The Oath was administered by Clerk of the National Assembly Sherlock Isaacs to Norton and Lawrence.
Norton is expected to take up the Leader of the Opposition post later today.
His ascension comes on the heels of intense pressure meted out against Harmon following his loss at the last PNCR Congress in December 2021.
It was the PNCR’s highest decision-making body that championed the naming of Norton as Opposition Leader, noting that it is customary for the party’s leader to assume that post.
