Vanessa Rodrigues, called ‘Chinee girl’, a 36-year-old Amerindian from Lethem, in Region Nine has been murdered.
Commander for Regional Division Seven, Superintendent Dion Moore, confirmed the unfortunate development earlier today.
According him, the murder occurred between April 12 and 13, 2022, at Papi Landing, Middle Mazaruni River.
Enquiries thus far revealed that the victim was last seen sometime on the evening of April 12, 2022 in the company of a man, whom police say is now a suspect. He is in custody assisting with the probe.
At 10:00 hrs on April 13th, Rodrigues’ body was found lying face down in a track with a chop wound to her head and several other marks of violence about her body.
The body was clad in a blue blouse and red and black pants.
The woman’s body and the suspect were both escorted to Bartica, as further investigations continue.
