A 24-year-old man, who claims to be from Wismar, Linden, was arrested on Tuesday after he was seen selling marijuana at Kuru Kururu, Linden/Soesdyke Highway.

Commander for Regional Division 4’B’, Woman Superintendent Denise Griffith indicated that the man was nabbed between 16:30hrs and 18:10hrs when police ranks conducted patrols in several areas in and around the highway.

While at Kuru Kururu, the suspect, who was clad in pink pants, white jersey and flap hat, was seen collecting money from several persons which he placed into his pants pocket and in turn, he was observed handing over ‘blue Ziploc like packets’.

The ganja was stashed in a PVC pipe affixed to a small derelict wooden building.

The ranks kept surveillance for about fifteen minutes as the man repeatedly retrieved and sold the marijuana.

He was subsequently confronted by the ranks, who retrieved the mentioned black plastic bag from the PVC pipe affixed to the wooden building. The pipe was searched in his presence and observed that it had contained several blue zip-lock bags containing cannabis leaves, seeds and stems.

A search was carried out on his person and $55,740 in cash (Guyana currency) was found in his pants pocket, suspected to be proceeds from the marijuana sales.

He was escorted to the Timehri Police station, where the narcotic was weighed in his presence and it amounted to 140 grams.

It was placed into an evidence bag, marked, sealed and lodged.
