Armed robbery accused Tarique Manawar-Khan, a 22-year-old taxi driver of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown was remanded to prison when he made a court appearance today at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court.
The suspect was arrested by Detective Constable 24648 Thornhill on April 22, 2022 and charged by Detective Constable 21300 Thomas with the offence of Robbery Under Arms committed on Crane businessman, Ren Persaud.
The businessman was robbed of 12 gold chains valued $1.5M. The incident took place at the Riddim Flow Chill Spot at Crane Housing Scheme, WCD, by three identifiable males, two of whom were armed with small handguns.
The armed robbery accused appeared today before Principal Magistrate Ms. Faith McGusty at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court where the charge was read and he was not required to plead, hence he was remanded to prison.
The matter was postponed to May 23, 2022 for report.
